What is Therapy?
Life can sometimes be challenging and unpredictable and you may find yourself feeling uncertain or overwhelmed. Or perhaps you are troubled by unwanted thoughts, feelings or memories. Therapy can help make sense of your experiences and find a way forward.
A therapist listens in a compassionate, empathetic and non-judgemental way to whatever you have to say. There is nothing too big or too small to bring to therapy. Therapy can help you discover trust in your own abilities and transform your relationship with yourself and others.
My Approach
I work as an integrative therapist. This means I draw on different theories and skills, and apply those that are best suited to your needs.
This includes:
-
Psychodynamic Therapy

-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

-
Person-centred Therapy

I can support you with issues ranging from anxiety, loss and low self-esteem to relationship, work and family difficulties. I also utilise coaching skills to help you reach your goals. This means that our sessions will not only focus on present difficulties and the impact of past experiences, but will also look towards the future to help you achieve meaningful change.
My aim is to help you develop a greater insight into the difficulties you are experiencing and the skills to help you cope so that you are better able to understand yourself and live a fulfilled life. Therapy is a collaborative process so I work at your pace in a supportive, safe and non-judgemental environment where you are free to be yourself. I am warm, friendly and kind and want you to feel comfortable and at ease during our sessions.
I also use psychoeducation to help explain some of the skills and interventions I use.
I operate a diversity-friendly practice and welcome people from all backgrounds and identities.

Menopause and Mental Health
I have a special interest in working with women who are experiencing the menopause.
I have completed qualitative research examining the relationship between menopause and domestic abuse, and the impact of therapy in improving well-being during this life stage.
My research explored dominant discourses around menopause and how these shape women’s understanding of themselves and their bodies. Therapy provides a space for women to discuss feelings of anxiety, low mood, brain fog and other mental health symptoms that can come to the fore during the menopause.
I can help you make sense of your experiences and find a way through this transition that feels right for you.
